Privacy Policy.

The short version

If you subscribe, I collect your email address — that's it. I use it to send you dispatches. I don't sell it, share it for advertising, or hand it to data brokers. I use a single email service provider to deliver the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time, and you can ask me to delete your data by emailing privacy@tylermaddox.info.

What I collect

• Email address — when you subscribe.
• Optional name — if you choose to provide it at signup.
• Email engagement data — opens and link clicks, recorded by my email service provider. Used to gauge whether dispatches are landing; never sold.
• Basic site analytics — aggregate visit counts. No cross-site tracking, no advertising pixels, no third-party social trackers.

I don't collect sensitive personal information (financial data, health data, precise geolocation, biometrics, etc.) and I don't process information from anyone I know to be under 16.

How I use it

• To send you the newsletter you signed up for.
• To understand which dispatches resonate, in aggregate.
• To respond if you email me directly.

Who I share it with

One category, one purpose: my email service provider, which processes subscriber lists and delivers newsletters on my behalf under a data-processing agreement. They do not use your email for their own marketing.

I do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Your rights — California residents

Even though this newsletter likely sits below the CCPA's revenue and volume thresholds, I extend its rights to all California residents as a matter of policy. You can:

• Right to know — request the categories and specific pieces of personal information I have about you.
• Right to delete — ask me to delete your information. Unsubscribing also removes your record.
• Right to correct — fix any inaccurate information.
• Right to opt out — of any "sale" or "sharing" of your data. (I do neither, but the right is yours regardless.)
• Right to limit — the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information. (I don't collect any, but again — the right stands.)
• Right to non-discrimination — for exercising any of the above. You won't lose access to anything for asking.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tylermaddox.info with the subject line "California Privacy Rights." I'll verify your identity by replying to the email on file and respond within 45 days. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission.

"Do Not Track" signals

This site does not respond to Do Not Track ("DNT") browser signals at this time, because I don't run the kind of cross-site tracking that DNT was designed to limit. There is no advertising network, retargeting, or behavioral profiling on this property to disable. If that ever changes, this section will change with it.

Email — your choices under CAN-SPAM

Every dispatch includes a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer and a postal address. Unsubscribing is honored within 10 business days (usually instantly). I will never use deceptive subject lines or hide who the email is from.

How long I keep things

Subscriber email addresses are retained while you're subscribed and for 30 days after unsubscribe (to honor suppression-list obligations and prevent re-add by mistake), then deleted from the active list. Aggregate analytics are retained for 24 months.

Security

Subscriber data is held by my email service provider under industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. I keep no local copy of the list outside of that platform.

Children

This site is intended for adult readers and is not directed at children under 16. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has subscribed, email me and I'll remove the record.

Changes to this policy

If I update this policy in any material way, I'll note it at the top of the next dispatch and update the "Last updated" date above. Minor wording fixes I'll just make quietly.
